About the Competition

SunCal Companies - Music From Home, an original-music sponsorship and emerging artist support program, is seeking singer/songwriters based in the Orange County area to help build community by finding the one aspiring voice that most represents the area.

SunCal Companies will be conducting a search for the finest, freshest voices in the area and providing that person or band $10,000 to help him or her achieve wider exposure. Singer/songwriters/bands interested in submitting up to two songs can learn more about the submittal process below.

In addition to the $10,000 music sponsorship, the winner of Music From Home - Orange County will also receive on-going support from the Music From Home Artist Advisory Council, comprised of music industry and marketing professionals, to help further their musical endeavors. This includes the opportunity to create a music video and perform in conjunction with the unveiling of the new communities of Pacifica San Juan in San Juan Capistrano and Marblehead in San Clemente, both master-planned by SunCal Companies. The video is expected to premiere online and possibly aired over cable and broadcast TV.

Music from Home Orange County Details

All musicians interested in entering the Music From Home Orange County competition must adhere to the following submission guidelines and deadlines.

  1. Contestants must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Contestants must be residents of Orange County.
  3. Contestants must submit entries by August 24, 2007.
  4. All submissions must include a photo, a brief letter describing the contestant’s history and inspiration in creating their original music, and either a mailed CD, an emailed audio file or an emailed video file of the song submission.
  5. All submissions must be original music by a singer/songwriter. Singer/songwriter must be able to accompany him/herself live on-stage, or with supporting musicians.
  6. Contestants may not submit more than two songs for consideration.
  7. The $10,000 prize money is to be used for the continued benefit of the winning contestant’s artistic pursuit.
  8. Acceptable submission methods include:
    • Digital audio files, photo and Word document letter sent via email to Info@MusicFromHomeOC.com.
    • Compact discs, photo and letter mailed to: Music From Home - Orange County, c/o Liz Hill, 2516 Via Tejon, Suite 114, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274

Judging will favor singer/songwriters that can musically accompany themselves in a live setting so that they will be able to perform at events. Singer/songwriters with experience in all music genres are welcome to enter the competition.
